Following the success of our previous kickstart placements, Activate Learning are excited to announce that we are launching a third phase of job opportunities across Oxford, Berkshire and Surrey starting in November 2021.

Activate Learning have recently partnered with DWP Gateway Organisation to support employers across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey and surrounding areas to apply for funding from Govt for their work placement opportunities via the Kickstart Scheme.

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment.

Activate learning are proud to be supporting this scheme with posts being made available across the group.

You will have the opportunity to join the organisation on a 6-month contract and in return will receive training and pastoral support and the opportunity to build your skills for your future career prospects.

You will be required to work 25 hours per week plus an additional 7 hours per week to attend training (16 days in total).

The role

As part of this scheme, we are looking to recruit a Trainee Property & Environment Helpdesk Assistant based at Merrist Wood College in Worplesdon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in gaining valuable skills in facilities support and general administration, as well a range of transferrable skills.

Working closely with the Facilities Customer Services Manager, you will learn the skills of how to be an efficient helpdesk assistant within an estates and facilities environment.

Your main responsibilities will include communicating with various stakeholders including staff, students, visitors and contractors, in addition to using software systems such as our Expansive Helpdesk system, where you will triage reported faults or requests for assistance to our Property & Environment staff at any of our sites.

In addition, you will be required to support the Facilities Helpdesk team in all admin tasks required, such as, scanning, photocopying, ordering stationary, and uploading various data and documentation into internal systems.

What you need to be successful:

You will have a good customer service ethos, high level of attention to detail and be passionate in achieving excellent results. Strong personal organisation and communication skills are required for this role, along with the ability to use Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn and adapt to new software systems. We also expect the successful candidate to always demonstrate professional behaviour and appearance.
