As a Creative Writing Lecturer, your primary responsibility is to inspire and educate students in the art and craft of creative writing across various genres. You will design and deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and seminars that foster imagination, critical thinking, and storytelling skills. Your duties include developing curriculum, crafting assignments, and providing constructive feedback to help students refine their writing techniques and develop their unique voices. Additionally, you'll facilitate discussions, lead writing exercises, and introduce students to diverse literary works to broaden their understanding of storytelling traditions and techniques. Collaborating with colleagues, organizing literary events, and mentoring students in their creative endeavours are also integral aspects of this role. By nurturing a supportive and inclusive learning environment, you'll empower students to explore their creativity, express themselves authentically, and pursue excellence in their writing endeavours.

Although a teaching qualification is an advantage, training opportunities exist within the College and we can support you in gaining your Award in Education and Training Level 3 Qualification (AET), within your first year of joining the college.

This role may be eligible for the ‘Taking Teaching Further (TTF)’ programme, which supports professionals as they move into teaching in the further education sector. Support from the TTF programme can include an initial reduction in teaching workload and enrolment onto teacher training.
