Oxfordshire Adult Learning (OAL) is a large, award winning faculty of Abingdon and Witney College. We aim to maximise access to learning for adults in Oxfordshire, widening participation and transforming the health, social and economic wellbeing of individuals, families, and their communities.

Our provision is diverse and includes an extensive range of leisure learning courses, community learning courses, family learning courses and accredited courses which lead to recognised qualifications. Our courses are delivered at our campuses in Abingdon and in Witney, as well as in community venues across Oxfordshire.

We are currently looking for a pottery lecturer to deliver afternoon sessions from 1:30-4:30 pm on a Wednesday at our Abingdon Campus.

Hourly Paid Lecturers are responsible for planning courses, delivering inspiring lessons, keeping records of their learners’ progress, and participating in development activities to enhance their own teaching, learning and assessment skills. The College offers a comprehensive staff development programme to support tutors in developing their practice.

You do not have to be a qualified teacher but must be knowledgeable and passionate about your subject area. Opportunities also exist to gain a recognised teaching qualification.

If you would like to discuss any of these opportunities, please contact Brid Muldoon: brid.muldoon@abingdon-witney.ac.uk

Although a teaching qualification is an advantage, training opportunities exist within the College and we can support you in gaining your Award in Education and Training Level 3 Qualification (AET), within your first year of joining the college.

In return, Abingdon & Witney College offer excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme and much more.

This role may be eligible for the ‘Taking Teaching Further (TTF)’ programme, which supports professionals as they move into teaching in the further education sector. Support from the TTF programme can include an initial reduction in teaching workload and enrolment onto teacher training.
